Celebrity event planner Marcy Blum recently shared some interesting details about Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s canceled wedding during her appearance on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast. According to Blum, J.Lo had considered having Bruno Mars perform on her big day. But when Lopez learned that Mars charges an eye-popping $5 million for a 45-minute to one-hour performance, she could not believe it. Her response, as per the planner, was, “Don’t be ridiculous.”
Blum went on to explain that the $5 million fee did not even include Bruno’s rider— which is a list of special requests and conditions that celebrities require for their appearances. And while some might think sharing this tidbit would be a breach of trust, Blum clarified that she had not signed a non-disclosure agreement while planning Lopez and Rodriguez’s wedding, which ultimately never took place. But Mars’ sky-high performance fees are not just limited to wedding events.
Mars also tops as the most expensive artist to see live, even surpassing Taylor Swift, who just had the most successful tour in history.
Bruno Mars costs more than pop queen Taylor Swift
We live in an age where concert tickets can cost as much as a mortgage payment. And this often makes fans wonder if their favorite artists are really worth the price. Bruno Mars, for example, charges an average of $2.19 per minute for his performances. That is more than double the $0.88 per minute average for other top artists, according to data from StudyFinds.

Even Taylor Swift, who was responsible for the highest-grossing concerts of all time and caused a ticketing frenzy, charged $1.19 per minute. While Swift broke records with her tour, Mars managed to beat her in another area with a major streaming record. Nonetheless, at the end of the day, whether Mars’ hefty price tag is justified is something only his fans—and those who book him—can decide.
