Celebrating Birthday Girl: Ranking Every Rihanna Album From Last to First

Its is not every day, or every week or month, that an opportunity such is bestowed upon you, to give a wistful look back at the years that have gone by. However, with the singer being ranked among the best of the decade by Billboard along the likes of Taylor Swift and Beyoncé there probably could not be a better time than now to look at Rihanna's discography.
Here is a rundown of Rihanna's albums ranked best and least acclaimed, to celebrate the musical superstar's birthday, following her journey to success:
8. A Girl Like Me (2006)

A witness to Rihanna's growing style of music, 'A Girl Like Me' had received a mixed response, critics have noted this fragment of her discography to be proof of her suppressed potential. The albums does have a few standout tracks such as 'SOS' and 'Unfaithful'.
7. Talk That Talk (2011)
Another installation to Rihanna's retrospective 'Talk That Talk', is a recipient of another bout of mixed responses. While some critics appreciated its catchy singles, there were some who believed the tracks and the album's overall niche could use some depth. Apart from the artist's own perspective lacking from the album, it was a in fact considered to be a commercial success, the track 'We Found Love' off of the album becoming an anthem song.
6. Music of the Sun (2005)
Marking Rihanna's career burst, 'Music of the Sun' is marked to be her debut album, noted as a Caribbean-influenced set of works, and also not as one of her most polished works. With moderately received commercial success, and close to no recognition at major award shows, this album has, if nothing else, helped Rihanna maintain humble beginnings.
5. Rate R (2009)
A rev in the engine, 'Rated R' has been year after year, and even at the time of its drop, praised for its grittier and more mature theme, pinning a major shift in Rihanna's tone of voice, and is also remembered as one of her major works after the nosedive of her relationship with then partner, Chris Brown. The album's commercial success was a no doubt A+, with tracks like 'Rude Boy' and 'Hard' hitting the charts, and although she was yet to see her work be as majorly awarded as it is today, this album is considered to be a turning point in her career, and also Grammy nominated.
4. Loud (2010)
'Loud' can simply be defined as Rihanna's land-marker in the music industry, cementing her tone and her niche in the industry, winning her multitudes of accolades and thrusting up her stature as an industry powerhouse. Tracks 'Only Girl(In The World)' and 'What's My Name?' were huge successes off of the album.
3. Good Girl Gone Bad (2007)
Two years before 'Rated R', 'Good Girl Gone Bad' was Rihanna's experimental success, marking her transformation into a global pop act and helped her form a range by mastering multiple genres. It was also a marker of major commercial success in Rihanna's career with staple tracks that have lasted to this day like 'Umbrella' and 'Don't Stop The Music' on this very album.
2. Unapologetic (2012)
A mild reformation and an orientation towards a blend of pop, R&B an dance, in her voice. 'Diamonds' and 'Stay' are some of the still staple tracks off the album, also marking its mega-sized commercial success. Grammy winner of Best Urban Contemporary Album and several other accolades are also curtsy of this masterpiece.

1. Anti (2016)
The biggest land-marker of Rihanna's career. Widely praised for its bold and tastefully experimental sound, the exploration that she does as she breezes past a gradient of genres. Her 8th studio album, it has solidified as Rihanna's grandest milestone over the years. Recipient of several awards, Grammys, and markedly, Album Of The Year for 2016. Making her earn a position as one of the most powerful female singers in the Hollywood industry.
