“But I never ever…” – From Court to Coronation, Singer Ed Sheeran Clears the Air About His Royal Concert Rumors
While Ed Sheeran won a 100 million dollar lawsuit, Brits were thinking out loud about why he did not make an appearance at as historic an event as King Charles III’s coronation ceremony, especially when he himself is a British star. Well, it appears that before he could make any comment on the same, the tabloids made it wide and clear that the ‘I See Fire’ singer turned down the invitation. But it was perhaps not so.
In a recent interview with SiriusXM’s Morning Mashup, he finally cleared the air about the same. He not only alleged that the “press had the negative story of loads of people turning down the coronation,” but also explicitly stated that “But I never ever turned it down.” Sheeran further suggested that he was not invited to King Charles’ coronation ceremony held at Westminster Abbey. Although he couldn’t mark his presence at the royal ceremony, he will be touring around the world, performing from his latest album, ‘Subtract.’

Talking about the lawsuit, Marvin Gaye’s heirs apparently alleged the four-time Grammy winner of plagiarising his 1973 hit, ‘Let’s Get it On…’ However, the jury has decided against the copyright lawsuit, decreeing that ‘Thinking Out Loud’ has a similar but not copied chord progression from Gaye’s song. And meanwhile, the British singer has won lawsuits for both his songs ‘Shape of You,’ and ‘Thinking Out Loud,’ we now also know that he did not turn down the royal invitation.
If not Ed Sheeran, who performed at the royal concert?
Well, to celebrate the majestic crowning of the king, the Palace had promised an equally grand concert. And Katy Perry is among the major “global music icons,” and contemporary stars who confirmed their presence at the royal ceremony. Apart from that, Take That will also be in attendance. Tom Cruise and Dame Joan Collins will also entertain the gathering, while Winnie-the-Pooh will make a special appearance.
