Italy, an exasperated farrago of delicacies, captivating tourist destinations, and iconic fashion, offers a sensory journey like no other. Yet, even the most immersive vacation can only scratch the surface of its depth and diversity. This is especially true in the case of record-breaking American rapper, Kanye West, who seems to have developed a liking towards the country. But perhaps a few months are not enough for Ye to have gotten over the culture shock.

The ‘Donda’ rapper, after ending his extended stay in Tokyo, seems to have developed an even stronger liking for Italy. But the country is yet to mirror the rapper’s sentiments. And this may have something to do with him being unversed in the country’s laws.

The Grammy-winning rapper and his wife Bianca Censori have taken to a few unconventional themes in style over the recent months. While Ye likes to switch it up, nude-toned bodycon dresses, no footwear, and a mask are a staple in almost each of their eye-catching outfits. The mask, in particular, seems to have garnered a fanbase of its own, especially at the Fashion Week in Milan. Ye’s mask has gained the attention of not just fans but also the fashion police and real law authorities in Italy.

According to the Daily Mail, Kanye West’s out-of-the-box choice to cover his face for reasons not religious or medical could lead to “breaching article 533 of Italian law introduced in 1977 to fight domestic terrorism.” The law was established in 2005 after a terrorist disruption in the country and its breaching will likely be taken more seriously than the rapper’s bizarre boat stunt in Venice that left the locals stunned.

With a top spot on the billionaire list and deals booked with Adidas and H&M, Kanye West was all set to put a green tick on his dream of building his own fashion empire. It all came falling down, however, towards the end of 2022, as the rapper’s actions and political views led to brands dropping out one after another. The kerfuffle did not end with brands cutting ties with him but also resulted in million-dollar lawsuits against Ye.

Since then, Ye has managed to win a pivotal case against Adidas, but that does not mean he is in the clear. The rapper seems to have a good understanding of his situation, as he has made no attempts other than hiring a few interns at a mere wage to revive his kingdom. The hiatus in Italy worried fans who thought the rapper might just opt for a quiet life there. But not only would that not be easy for Ye, given the situation, but also his musical genius is yet to reach its end.
