Taylor Swift has recently stamped her identity with the trademark “The Old Taylor”. This phrase was from one of the key moments of Swift’s ‘Reputation’ album, particularly the internet-famous line “The Old Taylor Can’t Come To The Phone Right Now” from ‘Look What You Made Me Do’. August 25, 2017, marked the date when Swift officially sought the trademark for ‘Look What You Made Me Do’, with Natalya Rose, her patent lawyer, also taking the helm as the attorney of record.
In the same year, TMZ dug up documents revealing Swift’s trademark filings for the word ‘Reputation’. As per the documents, Swift aimed to plaster the lyrics on an array of merchandise, spanning from t-shirts and notebooks to guitar picks, jewelry, bags, and virtually any accessory a Swiftie might desire. However, her recent decision to refile the trademark for “the old Taylor” has only fueled the existing speculations sparked by her recent cryptic fashion spree.

Since the re-release of ‘1989’, Swifties have been connecting the dots on the pop star’s hints about her next album, with many signs pointing to her 2017 chart-topper. Even at the 2024 Golden Globes, she opted for a snaky metallic green Gucci gown covered in sequins, giving off strong ‘Reputation’ vibes.
At the 2023 iHeart Radio Music Awards, Swift also wore a teal green Alexandre Vauthier ensemble, evoking memories of her hooded bodysuit from the 2018 Reputation tour. Not to be overlooked, her ‘Midnights’ music videos featured various costumes borrowed from the ‘Reputation’ era, including snakeskin-print boots in ‘Anti-Hero’ and a punk-inspired look with slicked-back hair, black lipstick, and a Versace Medusa necklace in ‘Karma’.
