It is never good news when Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and Taylor Swift cross paths, whether it is face-to-face, through subtle jabs, or just in the headlines. Their feud has dragged on longer than any of their love lives ever did, and it seems to pop up now and then like an old, awkward memory. This time, Billboard has decided to bring the decade-old drama back into the spotlight by sharing a snap from Ye’s infamous 'Famous' music video. Naturally, Swifties were not happy about it.

After facing intense backlash from Taylor Swift's army, Billboard is now trying to do some damage control to calm the social media outrage.

Taylor Swift and Ye recently made it into Billboard's prestigious ranking of the top 25 greatest pop stars of the 21st century. Swift claimed the second spot in the coveted list, just behind Beyoncé, while Ye was in the seventh spot. But that was not the real point of controversy. The real controversy began when Billboard posted a congratulatory video, hailing Swift as the second-greatest pop star of the century, which included a problematic snap. Recently, Billboard issued a public apology, stating they are “deeply sorry to Taylor Swift” and all their viewers.

Billboard also informed all the disappointed fans that they had removed the clip and admitted they “sincerely regret the harm we (they) caused with this error”. In the video, Billboard posted a snap from Ye’s 'Famous' video, which showed a wax figure of Swift in bed with Ye and several other figures. However, this was not the only controversy that this latest list of greatest pop stars has sparked.

As one of the biggest music media brands in the world, Billboard naturally attracts its fair share of disagreements. This time, once again, the music ranking giant failed to satisfy everyone, including Hailey Bieber, wife of Justin Bieber. The ‘STAY’ singer was given the eighth spot on the recent list of greatest pop stars. This prompted his influencer wife to leave a scathing comment on Billboard's Instagram post.

Hailey Bieber wrote, “Billboard is a f---ing joke as per usual”. But she was not alone in her frustration. Even The Weeknd, who was also featured on the list, expressed his dissatisfaction with Billboard’s judgment. And now, with the Taylor Swift controversy, the music giant has become even more controversial. Though Billboard has apologized, it is hard to tell if this will calm fans’ disappointment with the brand.
