Billboard Face Massive Backlash for Featuring Taylor Swift’s Wax Figure From Ye’s Controversial ‘Famous’ Video

Everyone remembers the night Taylor Swift gave Ye, back then Kanye West, a VMA award in 2015, bringing back the iconic 'Imma let you finish' moment after six years. Just when it seemed like the two had finally made up, the biggest controversy in their long feud hit. Ye dropped his infamous 'Famous,' which had some pretty controversial lyrics already. But the rapper decided to take it a step further by putting a wax figure of Swift in bed with him in the music video a few months later. Now, Billboard is bringing all that buried drama back again.

Billboard recently released its list of the greatest pop stars of the 21st century, based on the artists who have had the most impact over the past two and a half decades. In the rankings, Taylor Swift took the second spot, just behind Beyoncé, leaving Ye a few places down. To announce Swift’s achievement as the second greatest pop star of the century, Billboard posted a video on their social media handle celebrating the pop star's journey and feats. However, they also included the controversial clip from Ye's 'Famous' music video.

Ye landed in seventh place on the Billboard list, which did not sit well with his fans. But the popular fan page, Taylor Swift Charts, also alleged in a post that there might be some Ye stans at Billboard too- who "seem to hold a grudge against Taylor for reasons unknown.” Swifties were, obviously, furious, especially since the Billboard clip was used to highlight Swift as the world’s second-greatest pop star of this century.

Taylor Swift fans threaten to cancel Billboard unless an apology is made

Taylor Swift has frequently spoken out against the objectification of herself and her image on social media. Earlier, there was also a deepfake controversy on X, which brought a lot of negativity to both her and her NFL boyfriend, Travis Kelce. However, coming from a respected entity like Billboard, fans on social media found it very problematic and “disgusting”. Swifties are now demanding an apology from Billboard.

Many fans have even decided to cancel Billboard, using the now-popular hashtag #BillboardIsOverParty on X.
