Hardly a day after reports stated that Kanye West booked the Rcf Arena in Italy for a purported live listening party, new ones confirm that it has been rescheduled. While the original event was slated for October 13th, it has been pushed back by a week. As rushed as the reports came, it was inevitable for Ye and his team to run into technical constraints. Kanye West had held his fans hostage to his music with the drop of ‘Donda’ back on August 29, 2021. The catchy beats and tunes went on to score record-high numbers and brought laurels to the rapper. However, its march was cut short. Mere days later of ‘Donda’, Drake released his ‘Certified Lover Boy’ album, which took much of the spotlight off Ye’s album. While West did gain more sales, Drake clinched Spotify’s record for the most streams in a single day.
It is no secret that Kanye West has a long history of competing with Drake. Often ending up competing, the duo has murky waters between them which also seep into their respective fandoms. With Drake dropping his album ‘For All the Dogs’ recently, it might be Ye’s turn to blow him out of the water. Regardless of any mutiny, it all secures big wins for hip-hop’s 50th year.
