Bad Bunny Sets Himself Up For Backlash With His Glowing Praise of Chappell Roan
There is no denying that Chappell Roan rose to fame much faster than many of today’s bigger artists. However, with the fame came an intense wave of criticism that does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. While some fans feel that the hate Roan receives is harsh and, more often than not, unreasonable, others believe that she may not be fully suited for fame, especially considering her recent show cancellations and public meltdowns. Amid such mixed opinions, Bad Bunny decided to take some of the backlash onto himself.
Bad Bunny recently appeared in an interview with Rolling Stone, where he praised the Midwest Princess by comparing her to several well-known female artists. He described Roan as having a similar vibe to Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, and Sia, saying, “She has, like, a Lady Gaga, Lana, Sia vibe. She's cool.” Bunny also shared in the interview that a hairdresser on a movie set introduced him to Roan for the first time.

Chappell Roan's hate train originated from her vocalized need for firm boundaries with her fanbase, often calling out what she sees as overly intrusive or toxic fan behavior. This has led many fans to view her as unapproachable or distant, especially for those who expect more personal access to her life. Amidst the ongoing criticism, plenty of fans have come to criticize Bunny for his Chapell Roan comments.
Fans argued that Roan simply is not suited to be compared with the pop powerhouses Bunny mentioned alongside her.

One interesting aspect of the Chappell Roan backlash is that, while critics hate her boundary needs, celebrities have consistently stepped up to support her. From Sabrina Carpenter and Katy Perry's behind-the-scenes backing to Miley Cyrus and Madison Beer showing their support publicly, many stars have rallied around Roan. Sadly, Bad Bunny’s comments, despite being made with good intentions, are now being called out by Roan haters.
Some fans, however, took a stand for Roan against the criticism.
