Back When Travis Scott Called Out Critics Crediting ‘Rodeo’s’ Success Mainly to Kanye West and Other Big Names
Travis Scott and Kanye West had an on-and-off friendship over the years. Linked romantically to the Kardashian sisters, the duo shared a familial bond with each other. Their friendship goes way back to 2012 when the ‘Utopia’ creator signed a deal with Ye’s music label, GOOD Music. While all this definitely helped the 31-year-old rapper gain some momentum in his career, his success is often credited to West’s mercy.
Even as Scott released his first album, audiances aimed their praises at the Donda rapper. And when not him, at any one of the many artists that featured on the album. While not one to deny the influence, Travis Scott is also not one to watch someone get credited for his hardwork.

The rapper received a lot of hate for disorder conduct following the debacles at his concerts. Billboard did an interview with Scott where he defended himself against not only his then recent controversy and the most raging one. For the concert stampede controversy, he deemed himself excited, and for the raging controversy regarding his music being borderline identical to West and other top artists, he deemed himself misunderstood.
The BET Hip Hop Award winner commented on how people perceive that his music is not his own creation owing to his association with big names and called it a “Cheat code“. He further went on to say, “No, man! I worked on this album by myself”, dismissing the speculations. Scott also clarified that he only took Ye and the ‘Go Crazy’ singer’s opinion after a week or two before he was about to turn the album in. Nevertheless, the fact that the ‘Antidote’ singer had the support of Ye throughout his career can never be overlooked.
Their bond was so strong, both professionally and personally, that the rapper even went on to call Ye his “Stepdad”. However, this bond didn’t turn out to be favorable for Ye’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, who felt like she was stabbed in the back by Scott.

Post the Lollapalooza incident, Scott was again arrested with similar charges at another musical event held in Houston, Texas. The deadly crowd crush that occurred during the event caused ten deaths and more than 300 people’s injuries. The rapper even penned a public apology on his social media platform. However, angry netizens ridiculed him left, right, and center. In this tough time, it was Kardashian who stood by him and even took to Twitter to share her condolences. The fashion mogul expected the same kind of support from her sister’s partner during her feud with ex-husband Ye.
The drama between Ye and Kim Kardashian was the talk of the town a year ago. Amidst this feud, Scott attended West’s listening party for the ‘Donda’ album, which allegedly upset the SKIMS owner. While she didn’t make any direct comments on the matter, a close source to the SKIMS owner told Hollywood Life that “Kim is not at all happy that Travis is hanging out with Kanye.” But that did not stop the two rap sensations from staying friends as evident by Ye’s surprise appearance at the ‘Utopia’ concert in Rome.
