The Freedom of Expression has always been a tricky concept. This is the very right that one can use to say antisemitic statements and threaten an entire community and also the fundamental power one can exercise when saying that Jennifer Aniston’s magnum opus Friends is actually not funny. And in case you are Kanye West, you are likely to do both within the span of one hour.

A core memory of pop culture is when Ye impulsively decided in 2020 that he was going to give Donald Trump a run for the presidency. Even if the political consequences are kept aside, it stirred nothing short of a revolution on the Internet. The key characters in which were: Kanye West, Jennifer Aniston, and Pete Davidson.

A mystery that would get Benoit Blanc up and running is the curious case of Ye’s presidential campaign in 2016. Given its last-minute entry and the heat of the political tussle, fans embraced it as a comedic gesture from the rapper. But Jennifer Aniston did not find it funny. And again, freedom of expression was used.

This was met by a Kanye West tweet that said “Friends wasn’t funny either,” in 2022. But the rapper later clarified that it was just a fan account and not actually him who tweeted it. However, civil is not the rapper’s favorite word nor his weapon of choice, and therefore, the Grammy artist added, “But I wish I had“.

This jab at one of America’s beloved sitcoms was also equipped with another jab at Kim Kardashian‘s then-boyfriend Pete Davidson, who Kanye West endearingly nicknamed ‘Skete’. But it did not end there.

Ye said he likes funny people and hence he can never get along with the SNL rapper, who was coincidentally found making West’s ex-wife laugh around the time of this post. Then, making sure to use the freedom of expression down to the last morsel, the rapper penned down a list of specific people he finds funny.

If not Pete Davidson and Friends, what does Ye find funny?

Popularly known for his poker face, Kanye West actually credits himself for having a wicked sense of humor. And if you catch Will Smith after reading the list of entities he finds funny, then he would emphasize the “wicked” part. On his now-deleted Instagram account, in the same post where he called Friends unfunny, the Grammy-winning artist also gave a list of people he does think to have comedic caliber.

The list unsurprisingly starts with him and includes the likes of Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, and Elon Musk, but not Kevin Hart, with the exception of his stint in Jumanji. To some, this post was a burn directed at Jennifer Aniston and Friends, and to others, it was a list that served as a great recommendation of comedians to watch. But ultimately the post is another chapter on how to use your freedom of expression down to the last morsel by Kanye West.
