The enchanting artist Hozier had everyone awe-struck when he first came on the scene. With the global success of his first big hit song, ‘Take Me To Church’ back in 2013, the Irish singer got a taste of the glitz and glamour. But with all the success and fame that Hozier has achieved, the singer still recalls one night when he was just starting out to be “one of the most surreal nights” of his entire life. From all the moments over the years, some of his best are from the 2015 Grammy award show.

From being the night’s breakout artist and performing for one of the greats, Annie Lennox, to playing a show with the Foo Fighters, the singer has a lot to choose from. However, it seems a certain ex-Nirvana member stole the top spot after he moved over from Kanye West to greet him.

Back in 2019, Hozier revealed to Hot Press in an interview that his career had more good moments than it did bad. And then the singer went on to share his “most surreal” experiences from the Grammy show in 2015. The singer recalled that he had taken the stage to perform ‘I Put A Spell On You’ by Annie Lennox, which was an achievement on its own. But his best memory came after the performance as he headed to the dressing room and noticed Dave Grohl and Ye in conversation.

In the interview, the ‘Unreal Unearth’ artist who stunned fans with his album’s photoshoot, revealed that on the way to his dressing room, the former Nirvana drummer, Dave Grohl, who was chatting to Kanye West, stopped mid-conversation. He turned to the artist and said, “Hey, dude, I’m really looking forward to playing that show in Slane. See you then!” in complete Foo Fighters fashion and went on his way. Hozier also revealed that the interaction had surprised him as it happened “months before” the band had performed at Slane Castle.

While it may have been great to have an idol of yours, do “his homework” and know exactly who you are, Hozier went on to confirm that Dave Grohl was definitely “the nicest man in rock”.

Hozier and Dave Grohl took on Slane Castle in 2015

Eight years ago, Hozier got to be a supporting artist during Dave Grohl’s band, the Foo Fighters, show at Slane Castle in the summer. While the rock band was headlining, the Irish singer managed to pull in a massive crowd as he was one of the popular performers of the year. And the show even had Grohl claiming that it was “one of the best Slanes ever.”

While it may have been a dream come true for Hozier, the singer has since gone on to share the same stage with the band a few more times over the years. The most recent performances were at the Glastonbury Festival earlier this year. They may not have collaborated yet, but both Dave Grohl and the ‘Wasteland Baby!’ artists have been extremely supportive of one another, which leaves the question: Could fans ever get a Hozier and Grohl collaboration?
