A music’s success is often defined by the number of copies it has sold or the daily streams it accumulates. In a magnificent show of his popularity and acclaim, a 2016 Kanye West album has the unique distinction of earning a platinum certification from its streaming numbers alone. 2016 release, ‘The Life of Pablo’ has achieved a staggering 3 billion streams across several platforms globally. Further, its US streams of 1.5 billion alone safely carried it toward a platinum certification.

Apart from its streaming-alone platinum record, it also holds other unique traits as well. For, unlike traditional album releases, this was a Tidal exclusive, a Jay-Z-owned platform. Featuring Chance the Rapper, Kelly Price, Kirk Franklin, The-Dream, Rihanna, The-Dream, Young Thug, and Desiigner, the album is a celebrated masterpiece among the fans. Another uniqueness lies in the fact that it was updated in ‘real-time’ by the singer after its release. New vocals such as a Sia track, lyrics, and album art were changed as per fans’ feedback, making it truly a unique release.
