Amidst Chart Battle With Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny Looks Eye-To-Eye With Selena Gomez as He Ties Her Insane Record
Since 2022, Bad Bunny has been making his way to the top of the pop music world. He has earned a quarter-billion dollars from his tours, released one of the most successful albums of the last decade, and even became the first-ever Latino solo act and the first Spanish-language artist to headline Coachella. He has also dominated the year-end streaming charts for platforms like Apple Music, Pandora, and Spotify. And now, it seems the Latino artist is stepping up to compete with two of the biggest names in the pop world—Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.
After going head-to-head with Taylor Swift on the charts, Bad Bunny is now giving fellow Latina singer Selena Gomez a run for her money.

Selena Gomez has released three solo studio albums that debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200— 'Revelación,' 'Revival,' and 'Rare'. These albums earned her the top spot, with her most recent chart-topper dropping in 2020. But now, after five years, her record has finally been broken. Bad Bunny has officially surpassed Gomez for the most #1 albums by a Latin artist on the Billboard 200 in this century.
This milestone came with Bad Bunny’s 2025 album, 'DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS,' which broke the tie between the two artists. It is the same album that recently edged out Taylor Swift’s 'Lover (Live From Paris)' vinyl reissue too. Before DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS,' Bunny reached the top of the Billboard 200 with 'Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana,' 'Un Verano Sin Ti,' and 'El Último Tour del Mundo.'
Breaking records is not the only thing Bad Bunny has been doing lately—he has also found himself at the center of some controversy.
Bad Bunny criticized for supporting rising artist Chappell Roan
Bad Bunny recently came under fire after he praised rising pop star Chappell Roan during an interview with Rolling Stone. In the interview, Bunny compared Roan to some of music’s biggest female icons, saying, “She has, like, a Lady Gaga, Lana, Sia vibe. She’s cool.” While Bunny meant it as a compliment, some fans did not take it that way.

Social media users quickly criticized him for putting Roan in the same league as legendary artists. Many felt that Roan has not earned such comparisons yet and that Bunny’s comments were premature. He also found himself under scrutiny after fans speculated that his new album might be about his former flame, Kendall Jenner. Still, Bad Bunny seems to be brushing it all off like the true superstar he is slowly becoming.
