Amidst Chaos, Kanye West Hires Dov Charney to Join Yeezy, but Who Is This Controversial CEO?
Kanye West is forming a team for his Yeezy success. While Adidas tried to move on by selling the unreleased Yeezy products, the rapper looks to grow the brand on his own now. Of course, the royalties earned through Adidas will boost the finances required for this, at least enough to hire some big people. But the new team now has more than one canceled celebrity.
Dov Charney is the new face that Yeezy will have on its team now. He is one of Ye’s closest and long-term allies. Both backed each other when they got canceled by the world for their own set of controversies. But who is this infamous CEO?

Dov Charney, the new member of the Yeezy board, certainly has a part similar to Ye. The new CEO was canceled and fired back in 2014 from his American Apparel company. According to The U.S. Sun, he was accused on several counts of cheating the company and breaking the company’s guidelines, offering severance packages without prior approval from the board, and sexual harassment in the workplace. Although the CEO maintains his innocence and claims that the accusations have been settled or disproven. Regardless, he had to move on, find and rebuild his career again, just like Ye is doing.
In 2016, the CEO founded Los Angeles Apparel, which quickly grew into a staff of 350 by the next year. He even supplied fabric material to Ye for his collection. In fact, he supplied the ‘White Lives Matter’ t-shirts that Ye infamously wore at the Paris Fashion Week. Although criticism led the CEO to donate the t-shirts to the homeless instead of releasing them for sale.
Now despite their common interests, what may surprise many is the fact that Charney is actually Jewish Canadian, something that is surprising keeping Ye’s anti-semitic comments in mind.

One of the main reasons for Ye’s collapse with brands was his anti-semitic comments. Despite that, Charney supported Ye, while other celebrities criticized him. Although Ye eventually claimed that he ‘loves Jewish people’ after watching 21 Jump Street.
Now he will be working alongside West at the newly rented Yeezy HQ in Melrose Avenue. The multi-purpose office will be the center for all Yeezy-related things as well as hosting parties now. So we can expect to see more of Charney with the rapper in the future.
