The last year marked the 50th year of hip-hop and despite the swift happenings, it narrowly missed out on one final feather in its cap. As heavyweights such as Travis Scott, Drake, and Nicki Minaj dropped their albums in 2023, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Vultures’ bowed out right from the mouth of an impending release. While the move on Ye’s part disappointed a sea of fans, the delay also risked him losing even more territory and influence from the arena.

Amid any of the rapper’s new songs’ absence from streaming, his peers have surged ahead, the latest of whom just marked a long-awaited return.

The ‘Anaconda’ singer returned with a bang in the form of ‘Pink Friday 2’ after a five-year-long hiatus. Coming in as a sequel to her 2010 album, ‘Pink Friday’, the album dropped to critical acclaim and kicked high up on streaming charts, taking full advantage of the holiday season. Now, thanks to hits such as ‘Everybody’ and ‘Barbie Dangerous’, Nicki Minaj held the joint third place for most top tens on Hot Rap Songs along with Kanye West.

With the duo of them tied at fifty songs each for the coveted place and the ‘Flashing Lights’ singer holding out on a 2024 release, gave Minaj enough room to cruise ahead. Additionally, the 22-track album climbed up to second place on the Billboard 200 soon after its release. Finally, in a dominant show, ‘Super Freaky Girl’ earned the singer the honor of being the first solo song by a female rap artist to debut at number one on the Hot 100, since 1998.

When will Ye release Vultures?

A question that now finds itself looming large on social media comes on the backs of rampant pushbacks. After months of heavy rumors and leaks, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign finally previewed ‘Vultures’ at the Miami 12th December rave party. However, while signs and official updates hinted at a 15th December release along with an Apple Music listing, the entirety of it got taken down soon after.

A probable run-down of West’s tradition to refine his songs post a listening party, signs pointed that ‘Vultures’ still remained under recording before a final flight. Moreover, after inklings of a New Year’s Eve or a 1st January release also fell out, a few posts have popped up to highlight that the 12th of January now shall cradle the album drop with 18 songs on streaming platforms.
