Taylor Swift and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, crossing swords is nothing new. But this time, career-wise, the clash has landed a major blow to Ye. Ye, whom many fans have already consigned to the sidelines of relevance, has been trying to reassert himself with 'Vultures 2'. However, Taylor Swift, who is currently sitting on top of the pop world, has not made it any easier for him. Amid their heated race to claim the top spot, a third party has swooped in and stolen the thunder.

A South Asian artist managed to pull the Spotify crown from Swift's grasp, as the pop star was locked in her chart face-off with Ye.

Taylor Swift and Ye's feud might be one of the hottest pop culture rivalries around. However, what many people do not know is that the pop star has been caught up in another musical rivalry for the title of Most Followed Artist on Spotify for quite some time. The South Asian artist giving Swift a run for her money is Arijit Singh. Singh is currently sitting at the top with 117.32M followers on the music streaming platform, while Swift is a close second with 117.3M followers.

This would be the second time Singh has made headlines for surpassing Swift's follower count on Spotify. Although the Indian artist has pulled ahead of the pop star by 21,000 followers this time, he still has miles to go to catch up to the 'Cruel Summer' hitmaker in terms of monthly listeners. Swift is not only dominating music streaming platforms but also charts- sometimes purely through her musical prowess and other times by allegedly blocking other artists, including Ye, to keep the spotlight all to herself.

The first time accusations about Taylor Swift playing the game dirty surfaced was when she dropped digital versions of her 2024 album, 'The Tortured Poets Department', just as Billie Eilish dropped her new album. Recently, as Ye finally decided to roll out his 'Vultures 2', history seemed to repeat itself. Mere hours after the release, Swift dropped a new digital edition of her seemingly never-ending album.

This move had fans speculating whether the pop star is trying to block every artist in her path to maintain her months-long reign at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Following Swift’s move, even Ye unveiled six new variants of 'Vultures 2', which he has been selling for $5 on his website. Now, as the clash of these music titans picks up heat, who will come out on top is yet to be seen.
