MTV VMAs are just a few hours away and fans are overflowing with excitement to catch the show. While some are anticipating performances from legendary singers, others are waiting for the event to reveal this year’s pop-culture moments. From Kanye West’s interruption of Taylor Swift’s speech to Madonna and Britney Spears’ kiss, the VMAs have a history of creating iconic moments. However, the event also gives the celebrities a platform to showcase their glitziest and boldest outfits.

Hours before the event kickstarts, MTV shared some throwback pictures of last year’s VMAs, causing excitement among the fans. The carousel post featured the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK along with Taylor Swift, Lil Nas X, Anitta, Becky G, and many other talented singers. The page captioned the post saying “We’re exactly 24 HOURS AWAY from the 2023 #VMAs – so how ’bout a throwback to the exquisite 2022 ̶r̶e̶d̶ black carpet? The 2022 VMAs received a rather underwhelming response, owing to the decline in cable viewers and creative control clashes. As per 34th Street, the event has started to lose its relevance because of the makers’ unnecessary attempts to make the show relatable to the TikTok audience. Considering the absence of the most popular celebrities from the event, including West and Swift, the upcoming show’s success is also in question. Nevertheless, the fact that the Colombian singer Shakira is performing at the event for the first time is keeping the buzz alive.
