After Netflix’s ‘Glass Onion’, HBO’s ‘The Idol’ Boasts a Kanye West Reference, Just Not as Mellow as the Movie
Netflix and HBO might be rivals when it comes to streaming records and popular shows. But it looks like the one thing they both have in common is Kanye West. In 2022, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery became a global sensation within a few days of its release. The one thing that blew the mind of viewers was the depiction of the fashion and music mogul. They instantly noticed a massive poster dressed as a prophet with a chalice in one hand and an ancient torch in another.
For many, it might have been just a picture, but for others, it was indeed a penchant for getting locked out of social media. Now the infamous HBO show The Idol has once again brought him on-screen with a new reference.

The world knows how Kanye West called upon the anger of his fans and social media users for his antisemitic remarks. His erratic behavior and hate speech led to a tirade in which he lost access to his accounts, as well as his business partnerships. One of the theories that became paramount in his various antisemitic conspiracies was Hitler.
During his appearance on Alex Jones’s show, the rapper admitted that he likes Adolf Hitler. Now picking up the same instance, The Idol mocked Ye for ruining his career. The final episode showed the representative of Live Nation, Andrew Finkelstein, and Jocelyn’s co-manager Chaim, talking about her mental health.
In this scene, Chaim tried to assure him that there was nothing to worry about. To which Finkelstein responded, “You know, f***ing Kanye was filling arenas until he decided to start following Adolf Hitler”. Well, this reference makes one thing clear: whether this rapper does anything good or bad, he takes the spotlight. Meanwhile, the show itself is getting mocked for “atrocious” dialogues and traumatic sexual scenes.

In June, when the series arrived on HBO, fans became enraged with the depiction of extreme sexual scenes. Though the show topped in its first week, it was reported that viewers left it in the midst. Also, Rolling Stone revealed some anonymous interviews about how the creators have taken the story completely off the rails.
To defend their show Hank Azaria interviewed with Independent saying that all the cast members agreed on it. Sam Levinson kept an eye on this matter so that everyone was conformable doing raunchy scenes.
