Kanye West threw any notion of catering to the norms out of the window very early in his career. The Grammy-winning singer lost his mother when his career began to take off. And ever since then, he has dedicated numerous tracks, albums, and even a choir and academy to her name.

As the recently turned 46-year-old singer tried to build in fashion an empire as remarkable as his in the music industry, he encountered a lethal slip. One that resulted in the loss of fans, friends, and, most importantly, multi-million deals. This has understandably left Ye doubtful of the people around him. Therefore, as he builds his empire back up, he is hunting for talent in the ordinary through public auditions. It was recently announced that Donda Choir is looking for vocalists who are interested.

Donda choir has been a passion project of Ye for a long time. As obvious by the name, it is a tribute to his mother. But more than that, the Donda choir is the rapper’s propagation to bring the newer generation closer to God. And taking notes from his experience, he believes that music is one of the best ways to do so. Therefore, as he dusts off Donda Choir, he is looking for young vocalists among his fans or those interested in religious music in general.

This is not the first attempt by the rapper to hunt down talent from among his fans. Just a few weeks back, it was announced that Yeezy was looking for interns. And while the pay had everyone doing a double check for the wrong reasons, it promised an abundance of opportunities for those who took part. While the internship understandably expected participants to meet many criteria, the Donda choir operator doesn’t.

Who can audition for Kanye West’s Donda choir?

The audition was posted by a trusted fan page of Ye on Instagram by the name of ‘GoodAssSub’ which has over 1.5K followers. It is attached to a link that leads to the application form, where anyone interested between the age of five and twenty can participate.

One would need to prepare their favorite song, harmonize, and have a photo in order to audition successfully. Given that choirs are generally unpaid and that Kanye West is already cutting costs as per his pay to interns, this will be purely a skill-building activity.
