Adidas Is Relaunching Ye’s Yeezy Sales After Having Its First Loss in 30 Years
Ye, formerly Kanye West, and Adidas' dynamics have seen a major shift since the breaking of their partnership. But one thing that has remained constant is Adidas making money off Ye’s brainchild, Yeezy, despite the criticism the German footwear company received from the rapper. While Ye takes home his share of the earnings, he has not been shy about calling out Adidas for what he sees as exploitation, even accusing them of trying to sabotage him. Now, with this latest development, Ye and his fans might be ready to renew their criticism of Adidas.
Some new reports suggest that Adidas is reintroducing Yeezy sales amidst the losses the sportswear mammoth has been facing for the first time in 30 years.

Last month, Adidas made headlines with its first annual loss in over thirty years due to slumping demand and too much stock on hand. Sales in North America, especially, plummeted by 21 percent in the fourth quarter and by 16 percent for the year overall. But, the latest Yeezy release made around $159 million in sales and $53 million in profit in the first quarter of 2024, better than expected. Because of this, Adidas is now planning to sell the rest of its Yeezy stock at cost throughout the year.
This means Adidas could see an extra $212 million in sales, but no additional profits for the rest of the year. Since cutting ties with Ye in October 2022, Adidas has been working hard to bounce back. Meanwhile, Ye has been pushing his YZY line to make a fashion comeback. However, it has not lived up to the hype either, disappointing fans with slow and unreliable service.

Ye is currently exploring his passion for fashion and surprising everyone with more YZY products. Despite the 46-year-old's commitment to affordability, offering everything on his website for just $20, fans ran into issues getting their hands on their orders. While the new releases had many of Ye's fans scrambling to cop them, others found themselves waiting anxiously for two whole months for their deliveries.
Some were eyeing merch for Ye's 'Vultures 1' album, while others had their sights set on the rapper's Yeezy Pods. But without any solid updates on tracking their orders, annoyed social media users took to venting online. With both Ye and Adidas hitting rough patches among their consumer base, it raises the question if ending the partnership was more of a blessing or a burden.
