"A new beef"?- Fans Have a Field Day Debating Over Kendrick Lamar’s ‘GNX’ Knocking out Ariana Grande’s ‘Wicked’ Soundtrack
Kendrick Lamar has almost become the poster child for the word ‘beef.’ And why would not he, considering he won one of the biggest rap beefs of this era just a few months ago? But now, it seems that aside from his chart-topping music, fans on social media have painted him as someone who makes a living out of ruffling his peers' feathers. This fan-made narrative was yet again seen recently as Lamar dropped his new album right in the middle of the buzz surrounding the newly released musical by Ariana Grande.
Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande have never really crossed paths, at least not in the beef department. In fact, they have never even worked together before. The two come from completely different musical worlds, but that has not stopped fans from sniffing out some potential drama between them. As Lamar recently dropped his album ‘GNX’ right after Grande's release of ‘Wicked,’ fans could not help but wonder if he was trying to steal some of the 'Positions' singer’s thunder and overshadow her musical's soundtrack.

This came right after Lamar also made headlines with another pop star, Taylor Swift, who has also been accused of stealing the limelight from other artists’ music before. Thanks to DJ Snake, rumors about Swift being featured on Lamar’s new album had fans losing their minds. But it turned out to be nothing more than a wild rumor, as Swift was nowhere to be found on the album. Nonetheless, the supposed tension between Lamar and Grande gave fans plenty of fuel for their social media fire.
Fans are now speculating on X whether Lamar will manage to overshadow Ariana Grande’s music from 'Wicked' with his new album.
Fans smell a new beef between Ariana Grande and Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar did drop 'GNX' without any heads-up. But there had been reports that the ‘Not Like Us’ rapper was working on an album following his fallout with Drake. However, the timing of the drop, right after Ariana Grande’s 'Wicked' release, only fueled fans’ imaginations even more. Now, they are starting to think there might be "a new beef" brewing, especially after Lamar left Drake in the dust. Meanwhile, many fans were confident that Ariana Grande did not stand a chance against Kendrick Lamar.
There were, however, also some who criticized Lamar for what seemed like a strategic move, even going as far as to call him a "misogynist".

Ariana Grande’s more dynamic take on music with 'Wicked' has already been getting a lot of love. By taking the original orchestrations and lyrics from Stephen Schwartz’s 2003 score, the new soundtrack has expanded on the sounds that made fans fall in love with the reimagined Land of Oz. But whether it can hold its own against Kendrick Lamar’s latest album is something that still remains to be seen.
