2009 was a busy year for Kanye West. While he might have dominated headlines with his VMA mic snatch from Taylor Swift, he seemed to be doing many other things. Although he may have missed out on a Lady Gaga concert because of his erratic behavior, the 46-year-old ended up meeting Virgil Abloh at a Fendi internship. The two immediately got close and even worked together for a brief time.

Years before Abloh was appointed as Louis Vuitton’s artistic director, he worked for Ye’s agency, Donda, as the creative director. He even directed Jay-Z and the rapper’s ‘Watch the Throne’ album. While teaming up with the now-iconic rapper opened a lot of doors for him, his success was short-lived as he tragically passed away at the age of 41 back in 2021.
