2024 has not been a great year for Ye, aka Kanye West- nor have the last five years. He has been in trouble with legal threats, social media rants, controversial stances, and many more. The only album he dropped this year was also seen as lackluster by his standards. These missteps are all over the place but taken individually and together, they spell one thing- fans have never missed the old Kanye West more.

In 2022, Netflix unveiled a documentary series titled jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy about the life of Ye. The series offered an intimate glimpse into Ye’s early years as he fought to be taken seriously as a rapper. Recently, as a clip from the documentary resurfaced online- showcasing the rapper’s fiery energy and ambition- it gave fans chills. From the clip, it looked like Ye already saw himself as a star before the world did.

The clip focused on the moment when Ye stormed into the Roc-A-Fella Records office, cranking up the volume on 'College Dropout' demo tracks, which was also his first Grammy-winning album. Earlier this year, fans celebrated the 20th anniversary of the very album, and seeing this resurfaced clip brought back many cherished memories of the rapper at the height of his passion to make a name as a rapper.

Fans have filled social media with their astonishment at how much Ye has evolved over the years.

Fans are struck by Ye’s confidence before his rise to fame

Jeen-Yuhs truly captured the ‘Old Kanye’, a feeling that Ye famously mentioned in his song, 'I Love Kanye.' After the video, fans have once again been sharing how much they wish for the classic ‘Graduation’ rapper to make a comeback- something they had hoped for with 'Vultures'. However, after so many mixed responses, it is clear that the charm of the 'College Dropout' days can only be looked back on now.

Fans also noted that the energy, motivation, and confidence of Ye during those days was quite intense. "It’s scary how motivated Kanye was to succeed," wrote a fan account.
