Ye, Virgil Abloh, and Their Fashion Takeover: Don C Reveals the Story Behind It All
Kanye West, now known as Ye, excels as both a music titan and a controversy magnet. However, his marriage to architect Bianca Censori has highlighted another talent - fashion design. While the couple walked hand-in-hand in a unique fashion that the majority labeled ‘questionable’, a chunk of his followers seemed to be inspired by the same. His newfound fashion skills have thus impressed fans, but insiders reveal this is no new passion. And renowned luxury designer Don C recently went candid on Ye’s arrival in the fashion industry.
Although Ye needs no launch to trail blaze a trend of his own, his former manager’s genius gave him quite an early start.

Speaking on the Ghetto Runaways podcast, luxury designer Don C shared an untold story revealing Ye's discovery. John Monopoly, Ye's former manager, also happened to launch Don C and cultural icon Virgil Abloh's careers too. Hence, no sooner did Monopoly recognize their potential than he introduced them both to Don C, forging a creative partnership. That meeting changed their lives, catapulting the 'Vultures' rapper into the spotlight.
Don C praised Monopoly's vision and reminisced about him calling in family ties to launch Ye onto the bandwagon. According to the designer, monopoly’s words to the rapper were, "My cousin's into fashion, if he adds something to what you're doing Ye, you'll be on another level." Monopoly's mentorship significantly influenced Ye's rise, shaping him into an iconic figure in Atlanta's talent pool and global music scene.
Years later, fans witnessed a revolution in the fashion industry headlined by the cult-favorite rapper, Ye.

Ever since 2004, Ye has undergone a remarkable style evolution following his debut album 'College Dropout'. Initially embracing preppy polos and college boy aesthetics, he later experimented with dramatic, futuristic styles alongside high-end designers like Maison Margiela, Givenchy, and Marc Jacobs. Sneaker collaborations with Nike preceded his iconic partnership with Adidas. Needless to mention, his history with fashion mogul, Kim Kardashian.
Ye's passion for fashion led to the launch of Pastelle, a precursor to his iconic Yeezy label. Although Pastelle was short-lived, Yeezy's massive success strengthened his feet as a fashion powerhouse influencing hype beast culture and accessories. Most notably, Ye's flair extends to his personal life, transforming his wife, Bianca Censori's style, with a platinum pixie cut and sleek, sheer attire that has more often landed him in the midst of controversies than in praises.
