On October 24, Selena Gomez hosted her second annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit in Los Angeles, where she openly discussed her own experiences with mental health. Known for her candidness, Gomez was asked by The Hollywood Reporter when she thinks is the right time for someone on their wellness journey to seek mental health support. The singer shared a personal insight, admitting she does not believe it should take a “dire situation” for people to feel the need to reach out.

Gomez emphasizes communication as a healthy choice, regardless of tough times or moments of joy. She shared that she regularly connects with her therapist, even when she feels “happy” because she believes it is important to consciously rewire the thought patterns that can bring someone down. Using herself as an example, Gomez acknowledged that she still has plenty of work to do on her own journey, but she is only learning to embrace that process without fear.

At the recently held second annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit in Los Angeles, Selena Gomez went candid to The Hollywood Reporter, revealing her goals with the organization. “I want Rare to be a comfortable, safe place for people to find resources, to reach out to people if they need help,” Gomez told the outlet, citing the reasons she holds the benefit so close to her heart.

Gomez revealed how her own struggles with mental health pushed her to create a platform that does not already exist for the people who are in the same boat as her. The newly minted billionaire sees the fund benefit as “one of the most beautiful gifts” she could have shared with people who undergo similar trials.
