Lady Gaga Has the Entire Internet Swoon Over Her Singing in 'Joker: Folie à Deux'
Lady Gaga is stepping into the role of Harley Quinn. And ever since that announcement was made, fans have had mixed feelings. For one, the iconic Joker franchise is being molded into a musical- a format many are still not entirely on board with- and secondly, DC already had a popular Harley Quinn in the face of Margot Robbie. Nonetheless, it seems Gaga has brushed aside all those doubts with just a trailer.
The final trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux was recently released, in which Lady Gaga was seen singing Frank Sinatra’s 'That’s Life.' The trailer showed Joker and Harley putting on a show as Arthur stood trial, while chaos erupted in Gotham. While it is too soon to say how much of it was real and how much was a figment of imagination, Gaga’s voice in the trailer immediately hyped fans about the musical side of the film- which they were initially skeptical about. However, what many may not realize is that Gaga did not use her signature vocals in the movie.

Earlier, Lady Gaga shared that she did not use her trademark vocal technique in Joker: Folie À Deux, mostly because Harley is not a singer herself. And much like Joaquin Phoenix in his billion-dollar grossing film, Gaga has put the character first. “Even my breathing was different when I sang as Lee,” Gaga told the Empire earlier this year. Nonetheless, it seems whatever approach she took with her voice, it paid off.
The initial doubts and mixed reactions quickly gave way to excitement once fans heard Lady Gaga’s vocals in Joker: Folie à Deux.

After hearing her rich, goosebump-inducing vocals, though, online critics seem to have fallen silent.

It is also expected that Lady Gaga could really outshine everyone on the awards circuit this year, including the Oscars, as her name has already been floated for the Supporting Actress category. However, she is up against some fierce competition from fellow singer-actors with their own musicals coming up soon. But knowing Gaga, she is not going to let anyone have an easy win this time around either.
