Controversial Comedian Sparks Outrage With Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Joke, Following Backlash Over Blake Lively Quip
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, as a couple, have been showered with a lot of love from fans. At the moment, Swifties and NFL fans are obsessed with them. But that does not mean this unique pairing has not become the subject of some mockery. It definitely took fans a little while to get used to the perceived mismatch between their worlds—music and football. But while most people have gotten over the initial shock, some are still poking fun at the couple- including a popular, yet controversial, comedian.
The comedian, who recently made a nasty joke about Swift and Kelce, has been getting hit with intense backlash from fans.

The culprit here is stand-up comedian Hannah Berner, who seems to have made a habit of ridiculing high-profile celebrities. She has been trending on social media this week after making some inappropriate comments about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. During Netflix's Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year, Berner compared Kelce to alleged UnitedHealthcare CEO assassin Luigi Mangione. And fans were not having it.
Swifties have been slamming Berner on social media for making such a joke about Swift and Kelce. The joke seemed to credit Kelce’s sudden rise to fame to the pop queen, something that even Kelce himself has admitted in the past. While Kelce was already known in the sports world, his pop culture fame really took off with his high-profile relationship with the pop queen. But to suggest that his relationship with Swift was to get fame did not sit well with fans. And this was not even the first time Berner's jokes got her into such troubles.
On the same show, Berner also made an offensive joke about Blake Lively, which even led to an apology from the comedian.
Hannah Berner walks back her comments about Blake Lively
On Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year, Hannah Berner made a joke about Blake Lively, saying, “The word **** was trending this year. I don't think Blake Lively was that bad.” This comment happened to line up with Lively’s ongoing legal battle against co-star Justin Baldoni, which many saw as tone-deaf. After receiving heated backlash, Berner took to social media to explain herself.

Berner wrote, “My joke in the Netflix roast was filmed before news of the lawsuit.” She added, “I support Blake xoxo.” Maybe that is why Nikki Glaser, the new host of the Golden Globes (which, by the way, will not feature the Deadpool & Wolverine stars), is avoiding bringing up Lively and her lawsuit altogether as well in the ceremony.
