Amidst ‘SNL’ 50 Uproar, Ye Fans Revisit Hilarious “Make Kanye 2006 Again” Stunt by Pete Davidson

After the LA inferno hit the pause button on Hollywood like a dramatic cliffhanger, Tinseltown is now back in full cinematic swing, rolling out red carpets faster than a starlet dodging paparazzi. From the unfolding award season to the star-studded Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary bash, the industry is serving up headline-worthy moments left and right. But for Ye aka Kanye West, Hollywood highlights are equivalent to high-speed turbulence. As his latest antisemitic rhetoric swirls alongside SNL nostalgia, the internet dusted off Pete Davidson’s classic “Make Kanye 2006 Again” moment into a trip funnier and more controversial than an unfiltered Ye rant.

Ye and Pete Davidson have been at loggerheads for ages, but not only because of Kim Kardashian. In 2018, the ‘Vultures’ rapper appeared on a Saturday Night Live episode, where he concluded with a bizarre speech about Donald Trump. Davidson dropped by Weekend Update right next week, flexing a hilarious cap, parodying Trump’s political anthem, “Make America Great Again” to “Make Kanye 2006 Again.” And Reddit recently found a way back to the side-splitting slot.

Following Ye’s unaired pro-Trump speech on Saturday Night Live, Pete Davidson’s Weekend Update segment sparked major controversies where the latter encouraged the rapper to take his medicines. Davidson admitted having been on medication as well but went ahead to slam Ye’s speech as “one of the worst, most awkward things” he had seen on the show. The comedian also addressed the Atlanta native’s claims that he was bullied backstage into not wearing a MAGA hat.

Pete Davidson’s past SNL skit referencing Ye leaves fans in a dazing chokehold

When Pete Davidson romantically linked up with Kim Kardashian, Ye addressed the 2018 SNL skit, slamming him relentlessly. But now that the excerpt has been unearthed during the rapper’s unwavering social stunts, fans could not help but see where Davidson was coming from. “I would honestly take any version of Kanye that came before 2022,” a Reddit user wrote. However, another one said they feel Ye “has been a completely different person every year.”

Though the antisemitic overdrive has had fans lamenting the loss of the old Ye, they were not fully ready to accept Davidson’s stance, dubbing him an “unfunny loser.” Similarly, even in defiance, they refused to promote someone “who played a big part in his demise.” Although the tides have not exactly been in Ye’s favor lately, with showbiz A-listers towering opposed to him, the shift in waves still does not make Davidson “cool” to them even after the hilarious revisit.
