The original title of the movie was ‘All Rise’ until Netflix has acquired the distribution right of it and changed it as Monster as the same title of the novel by Walter Dean Myers that it has been adapted from. The film first premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition section at the Sundance Film Festival back in 2018. Later in April 2019, it was announced that Entertainment Studios had acquired distribution rights to the film, retitled All Rise before Netflix has acquired its distribution rights in November 2020, and once again called the film ‘Monster‘.
Monster is scheduled to be released globally on Netflix on May 7, 2021.
