Money Heist (originally La Casa de Papel) is a series that tells of a group of outlaws brought together by a criminal mastermind. Those outlaws try to rob the Royal Mint of Spain, and the story takes some incredible turns. The ambiguity of the characters and unexpected events are some of the pros of Money Heist. The Netflix original series is in Spanish, and currently has four seasons on the platform. It debuted on the popular streaming platform in 2017. The last set of installments were released in April 2020. Since then, fans have been waiting for updates on Money Heist season 5 release date. Here is everything we know about Money Heist season 5 as of now.

The producers started the production in Summer 2020. They did not confirm any date about filming, though. They’re presumably still shooting the season, given the release window of Money Heist season 5.

It does not seem like they are far from finishing it. That’s because the Professor recently shared a video, announcing that he finished  his parts. He’s arguably the most significant character of Money Heist, so it rings a bell.

UPDATE: Money Heist season 5 is a wrap!

Money Heist season 5 is going to have 10 episodes.

There are some rumors going on about the fifth season including more than 10 episodes, but Netflix has not said anything about that yet. IMDb shows that there’ll be 10 episodes, too, so those rumors are probably false.

Money Heist series, unfortunately, going to end with season 5. There will be no more seasons of Netflix‘s popular Spanish heist series unless they change the plans and make it reborn.

Here’s Netflix’s description of Money Heist for those uninitiated:

“The professor recruits a young female robber and seven other criminals for a grand heist, targeting the Royal Mint of Spain.”

Things get much more complicated in the following seasons.

UPDATE: Netflix is going to release the first part on September 3, and the second part on December 3.

Netflix earlier announced that Money Heist season 5 was going to be released in the second half of 2021 at a conference.1

There were some reports that held that Netflix was aiming for a September 2021 release. However, Alex Pina, the creator of the series, revealed that they were planning to release the season after September. Given the source and plausibility, a release date after September seems much more plausible, to be honest. There’s a small chance they can give us a release date of Money Heist season 5 by the end of September 2021 if everything goes right.

The most possible date for Netflix to release Money Heist seems to be in October 2021 right now. That’s because they are going to release the new installments of other series like The Witcher around the end of the year as well.
