In the same stack, Netflix premiered a new horror drama, Midnight Mass, on September 24, 2021. Mike Flanagan is the creator and director of this show, who also made The Haunting of Hill House.

The 7-episode miniseries is ambitious, religious, unsettling, and worth streaming. It combines grief and faith to deliver breath-taking chills.

Midnight Mass is about an isolated village on Crockett Island. The existing divisions of the village community

get amplified by the return of a disgraced young man and a charismatic priest. Father Paul’s arrival on the island coincides with strange, unseen, and seemingly miraculous events. The community, then, experiences a newfound religious fervor.

Being officially a miniseries, it is unlikely that the show will return for another season. The ending leaves no specific cliff-hangers but lingering thoughts where you question existence. The series has been receiving positive reviews, both from critics and audiences alike. So, we think that Netflix might commission newer horror shows around the theme that Midnight Mass followed. Though, a renewal is unfavorable.
