Lucifer Morningstar, Tom Ellis Heads Back to Netflix for ‘Exploding Kittens’, Produced by Comedy Legends Mike Judge and Greg Daniels

Netflix has come a long way since it started. It started as a movie and tv show streaming service, but it has become so much more. Not only do they allow people to stream content at the highest quality available from the comfort of their homes. But they have been in constant pursuit of producing original content. And now, this evergrowing and ever-evolving streaming platform is entering the world of gaming. Netflix is going to launch a mobile version of Exploding Kittens very soon. But that’s not it.

They seem to have other plans for the beloved card game too.

In May, Netflix will release Exploding Kittens — The Game, which will be followed by an adult animated comedy series starring Tom Ellis (Lucifer), Abraham Lim (The Boys), Lucy Liu (Elementary), Ally Maki (Cloak & Dagger), Mark Proksch (What We Do in the Shadows), and Sasheer Zamata (Home Economics) in 2023.

The show will take place when the unending war between Heaven and Hell reaches epic dimensions in the animated series Exploding Kittens when both God and the Devil are transported to Earth in the bodies of fat domestic cats.

According to several Instagram accounts, Ellis will be voicing God CatDevil Cat will be Zamata… Lim and Maki portray siblings, and Liu plays their mother.

The animated series will inspire future cards and game mechanics, allowing you to interact with your favorite characters and bring the show to life. The game will be offered to Netflix users without additional costs or in-app purchases and include both solo and multiplayer modes.

Mike Judge, Greg Daniels, Dustin Davis, Peter Chernin, and Jenno Topping, and Exploding Kittens franchise creators Elan Lee and The Oatmeal’s Matthew Inman will serve as showrunners and exec producers alongside Shane Kosakowski and Matthew Inman.

Fans might instantly recognize the name of Greg Daniels. Greg rose to fame as the showrunner of the first 4 seasons of the hit sitcom The Office. Recently Greg in collaboration with Steve Carell developed the hilarious Space Force for Netflix.

The Exploding Kittens series will also mark the return of Tom Ellis to Netflix after his successful full run as the devil himself. After Lucifer Tom joined the cast of Hulu’s limited series “Washington Black.”
