Netflix is going to give us yet another lovely Turkish production, and it’s a romantic drama movie this time, titled Last Summer.

As we all know, Netflix is pretty generous when it comes to local productions. There are many Indian, Spanish, and more local Netflix Originals on the platform. Turkish series and movies are among those local productions as well. Besides, there are many fans of local Turkish productions on Netflix. We last saw that in Fatma, which was a brilliant Turkish thriller series. To add to that, we’re just a week away from The Gift season 3, whose trailer was released at the beginning of June.

Anyways, this new Turkish work is a movie, contrary to the majority of the earlier productions. The title is Last Summer, although we originally knew it as Summer ’96. It is a romance-drama movie. The movie will tell of a group of young people in a Mediterranean holiday town, and you probably already have a concept of it in your mind. Let’s check out everything that you need to know about it, then watch the trailer.

The story of Last Summer is going to be centered around Deniz, the trailer shows. He visits his parents’ summer house every year, however, he feels different this time, upon being 16 and feeling more confident. It seems Deniz is getting ready to hit on Aslı, who’s his childhood crush. There’s also a guy named Burak in the neighborhood, too, and he’s an extremely handsome, sporty young man, who also likes how Aslı looks. Apparently, he will be a ferocious rival for Deniz. A dramatic love triangle surrounding the group of youngsters is imminent.

Here’s the Netflix synopsis of Last Summer:

“During summer vacation in a beachside town, 16-year-old Deniz seeks the affection of his childhood crush and navigates a love triangle.”

The crew is young as you can expect. However, we are kind of accustomed to the crew of the movie.

Ozan Açıktan will direct this new Netflix original Turkish movie. His earlier works for Netflix include Yarına Tek Bilet, which is a romance movie as well, and The Gift (Atiye), which you probably know at this point. In addition to those, he has many non-Netflix works for Turkish TV.

The producers are Onur Güvenatam, Şebnem Kitiş, Burak Oskay and Tunay Vural. In addition to their earlier works, the producer team has experience with Netflix productions as well, such as The Protector and Yarına Tek Bilet.

Netflix is not going to keep us waiting for too long until the release of Last Summer. The new Turkish-language romance movie will be on Netflix on July 9th, 2021. It seems like a reasonable release date for a movie with a summer concept, doesn’t it?
