Kid Cudi Reminisces Ye, Snoop Dogg, and Lil Wayne’s Iconic ‘We Are the World’ Remake
Over the years, it has become common to see artists come together to collaborate and give the world something spectacular. The idea may have been brought to life in 1985 when the former King of Pop, Michael Jackson, brought a multitude of stars together from the USA for Africa's benefit, where they sang his iconic song, ‘We Are The World.’ Although many artists have remade the track with stars of their generation, Kid Cudi recently gave fans some insight into the iconic version with Ye formerly known as Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, and even the lyrical genius, Lil Wayne.
The rapper shared his side of insights and nostalgia as he recalled moments from the scene.

In a recent episode of Complex’s GOAT Talk, Kid Cudi chatted away with Tony Hawk about the best and worst moments of his life. After being asked about his ultimate smoke circle, the rapper chose Jeff Bridges before recalling that they had met during Quincy Jones’ ‘We Are The World’ remake nearly 14 years ago. Apart from the American actor, the 40-year-old also got to see Ye and Lil Wayne be a part of the group, while Snoop Dogg had snuck in and was having a laugh with the 'How To Love' rapper in the back.
Cudi added that at the moment he could not help thinking, “This is so dope.” He also said that it felt like a “celebrity choir class.” However, it ended up being a memory that the ‘Erase Me’ rapper would never forget. With Justin Bieber, Akon, Celine Dion, Mary J. Blige, Tony Bennett, and more being a part of the song, it ended up being one of the more memorable covers of the iconic Michael Jackson song.
While Cudi and Ye have had their fair share of good times, the rappers have also been known to go head-to-head every now and again.

Like most of Ye’s close friendships and relationships, the rapper’s bond with Kid Cudi has taken a few hits over the years. While the 46-year-old had initially reached out to his younger artist as he had loved his sound, it seemed to take a turn when the father of four’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian started dating the 40-year-old’s friend, Pete Davidson. Although the Yeezy creator had wanted his friend to support him during that difficult time in his life, the rapper did not want to choose sides in the battle.
Cudi’s decision might have led to a falling out between the artists for most of 2022 and early 2023 until they made up in December of last year. The 40-year-old chose to bury the hatchet as he took Ye and hugged it out, marking the end of one high-profile beef in the rap world.
