However, the next chapter of this superhero saga has hit an unforeseen roadblock. The demise of one of its actors has cast doubt on the future of Season 2, leaving fans anxious for answers.

Yesterday, the cast and crew of Gen V were set to gather for their Season 2 table read ahead of filming in Toronto starting April 8. Unfortunately, the day took a devastating turn with the news of Chance Perdomo's passing due to a motorcycle accident. Known for his portrayal of Andre Anderson in the series, his death has shaken the cast and crew to the crew of Gen V, rattling them into indefinite postponement, as reported by Deadline.

After mourning Perdomo's unexpected death, the series' writers and producers will have the difficult task of deciding how to proceed without one of their lead actors. They will need to weigh the options of either completely restructuring the new season and rewriting all scripts to write out Perdomo's character or recasting the role. Nonetheless, even if filming were not being postponed, the makers have already taken significant risks in Season 2's development, potentially making it less special compared to other entries.

The biggest concern for Gen V Season 2 is that it may not be set at Godolkin University. In the finale of Gen V Season 1, the characters were pushed into the main world when Anthony Starr's Homelander made an appearance at Godolkin University. With Marie Moreau and her friends now held captive by Homelander and Vought, the likelihood of Gen V Season 2 being set on campus seems much slimmer. With fans known for being vocal about their disappointment with this franchise, this could spell major trouble for the show.

Witnessing the young superheroes navigate their newfound fame was a refreshing addition to The Boys' universe. Therefore, it is disappointing that the show appears to be moving away from this premise so quickly. This change also threatens to blur the lines between Gen V and The Boys. Gen V had just started to carve out its own identity before taking a different direction in the closing moments of Season 1. Looking ahead, there is a risk that the spinoff could lose its unique element.
