The 1993 blockbuster hit was written by Danny Rubin and starred Oscar-nominated, Billy Murray, Andie MacDowell, Stephen Tobolowsky, Brian Doyle-Murray, and Chris Elliot. The film has gained a classic status over the years and is still the most-watched film on Groundhog Day.
Bill Murray, plays the titular character of Phill Conners. He is a cynic by nature and works in the weather department. Every single year he is tasked with covering the Groundhog Day event that takes place in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Phil is averse to covering the event but has no choice.

He soon finds himself stuck in a time loop and has to relive the day he loathes the most, Feb 2. However, he pretty quickly discovers that his actions have no consequences, and he gets up to no good. He binge eats gets involved in theft and other criminal activities. But as fun, as it was in the beginning, depression fast catches up to him.
Is Groundhog Day available on Netflix?
The fan-favorite, Groundhog day is no longer available on Netflix, but don’t worry, the Harold Ramis-directed comedy is available to stream on other platforms. Starz subscribers can watch the movie on-demand, and those who do not have a Starz subscription can avail free 7-day trial option to watch the movie for free. You can cancel your subscription after that or pay a monthly subscription fee of $8.99.
The movie can also be rented on YouTube, VUDU, Amazon Prime, iTunes, and Google Play.
