Ryan Reynolds‘ new action-comedy “Free Guy” is finally here. Many Netflix subscribers are excited to watch if Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy’s movie is available on the streaming platform.

Free Guy is directed by Shawn Levy and based on a screenplay written by Zak Penn and Matt Lieberman, is the story about an NPC who takes control of his life. He might end up taking down the entire game world that he lives in. Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Komer, Lil Rel Howery, and Joe Keery star in the sci-fi comedy action-comedy. Free City is an open-world game that sounds like Sim City but feels like GTA. Guy (Ryan Reynolds), an NPC, works as a bank teller. Guy becomes aware of his own self through a program that was inserted into Free City’s software by Antoine (Taika Waititi). Guy then decides to be the hero. Guy tries to save the game, while the developers rush to shut it down. As you might expect, it all goes horribly wrong.

Here’s the synopsis of this movie:

“In epic adventure-comedy “Free Guy,” a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game decides to become the hero of his own story…one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way…before it is too late.”

This exciting project features the Deadpool star as well as Jodie Comer, Killing Eve actress as Millie in real life, and Molotov Girl as Free City. Taika Waititi is the director of the MCU movie Thor: Love and Thunder. However, she’s also on the set as the eccentric creator of the video game.

Is Free Guy Streaming Platforms or Cinema?

Unfortunately, no. Free Guy will be released exclusively in theaters. This is in contrast to the streaming strategy of most major studios.

Movie fans have been away from cinemas for a while. But now that there are fewer pandemic cases across the US or other countries, and the vaccine rollout has expanded, movie lovers can return to their local theaters. However, before booking your tickets, make sure you are following all safety precautions and checking the most current guidelines for your state.

Video game terminology says that anyone searching for Free Guy on Netflix will be given a “game-over” and not have another chance to earn more quarters before the time expires on the continue screen. The streaming service does not offer Van Wilder’s comedy. Although the news that Netflix subscribers cannot watch Free Guy isn’t ideal, there are many other options that are exceptional. You can also stream Spenser Confidential and Murder Mystery as well as 6 Underground right now.

In May 2021, Disney CEO Bob Chapek stated that Marvel Studios’ martial-arts action movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will receive exclusive theatrical releases. It is not yet clear if this strategy will be used for other Disney movies in 2021.

Although Free Guy will be released theatrically, it may still end up streaming or video-on-demand after its initial run. The film will be shown in a 45-day theatrical window that won’t be seen anywhere else. It is unknown what will happen afterward. Based on the success of the film in theaters it may be released on Digital or VOD early. After the theatrical window has ended, Free Guy is very likely to end up on Disney+ or Hulu.
