What the Bastard Out of Carolina is about?

The plot of the film develops around Ruth Anne aka Bone, who has been sexually and physically assaulted by her step-father. Her mother, Anney for their poverty-stricken situation, marries Glen, an angry young man who harbors a deep hatred for his father. He always took out his frustrations on little Bone. Even after Bone’s mother learns everything about her husband that he raped her daughter, she stays with him. Bone’s world shattered.

From living in hell, Bone miraculously survives her childhood and finds shelter from a woman of the extended family.
