Zendaya’s ‘Dune: Part Two’ Delay Assures an Oscar Win for Cillian Murphy’s ‘Oppenheimer’?
As most film enthusiasts know, this year was supposed to be huge for the movie industry. Although audiences have gotten a few huge hits that will probably be up for Oscar awards this year, fans have already had to face letdown after letdown due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which began in July 2023. And it looks like they may have another one coming their way.
With many films facing issues with delays, fans are already on edge, but now there seems to be another disappointment coming and this time it is Zendaya’s and Timothee Chalamet’s Dune: Part Two.

According to a post on X (formerly Twitter), it was announced that Dune: Part Two, directed by Denis Villeneuve, was being delayed till March 2024. The film was initially set to come out in November of this year. And just like its prequel, stars Euphoria’s Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet. However, it has unfortunately hit a fork in the road to its release due to the SAG AFTRA strike, which has now been going on for 113 days.
Just like the movies before it, Zendaya’s Dune: Part Two, which made way for this show, might be delayed, but at least fans were given a release date. While fans have a longer wait ahead of them, Warner Bros. has at least not scrapped the whole project. With such a star-studded cast, it is no surprise that fans cannot wait to see them back on screen again.
But that was not all. WB also went on to announce the release of other upcoming films, but a lot of fans only had one thing on their minds. With the delay of Dune: Part Two, did that mean there was only one clear Oscar winner for the coming year?
With Zendaya’s Dune: Part Two out, Oppenheimer could win the Oscar
The news of the delay upset a lot of fans who had been hyped waiting for the movie to come out, but there were few who immediately connected the film to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which was released earlier this year. Maybe that is because of the similarities that have been drawn between the directors over the years. But after Oppenheimer came out, there were fans who saw similarities between the movie themes.

With all the similarities that have been drawn between the two, including their blue-eyed leading men, Chalamet and Cillian Murphy, fans were looking forward to the directors going up against each other at this year’s Oscars. But that seems to be out of the question, now that Dune: Part Two is out of contention.

That just means that there is a bigger chance that Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer will be taking home this year’s Oscar unless fans get a surprise movie that can hold its own against the recent mega-hit.
Do you think Dune: Part Two had a chance of beating Oppenheimer for an Oscar? Let us know what you think in the comments.
