Actor, DJ, and musician, Trey Smith is the eldest of Will Smith’s kids and the only one to not be born out of his and Jada Pinkett Smith’s wedlock. Admitting that “I was an okay father,” years down the line, the 55-year-old actor has made it full circle and repaired a rocky relationship with Trey. Taking to Instagram on the latter’s 31st birthday, Will posted a video message full of heartfelt dedication. “You introduced me to the true definition of Love!” The caption sent the message across loud and clear.
The clip had bits of the King Richard actor dropping alludes to “Willard Carroll Smith III” aka Trey Smith. Singing ‘Just the Two of Us’, the proud father narrated his days and time with his eldest. Fondly referring to his son as “T-Ball”, the illustrated video also had him speak about how Trey taught him the true meaning of being a father. Further on, as the caption so poignantly describes, Will Smith went to describe how “I met God in your eyes.”
Interestingly, the video comes at a time of discord with the same person who healed Will and Trey’s relationship.

Trey Smith was born in 1992 to Will Smith and his former wife, Sheree Zampino, divorce from whom had such an impact on the Bad Boys actor that he somewhat gave up on parenting altogether. Admitting that his marrying Jada Pinkett Smith and moving on to having a separate family had made Trey feel “betrayed & abandoned”, the actor longed for reconciliation.
Coming in as a ray of hope was the Madagascar actress whom Trey has often referred to as a “bonus mom”. Pinkett Smith, through mutual talks and Red Table Talk appearances, mended the fences between the father and son duo. Ironically, while she fixed one end, her own marriage with the actor now stands in shambles as she admitted to being separated for the last seven years.
