The movie's success has been met with a mix of praise and criticism, with some notable figures expressing disappointment. While fans have relished the film's irreverent humor and action-packed sequences, deeming it one of the greatest Marvel movies of all time, others have found it lacking in depth.

The Succession star Brian Cox expressed concerns about the state of cinema at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, He stated, "I think cinema is in a very bad way.” Cox affirmed it has started to implode, leaving the film industry in ruins. “You're kind of losing the plot,” he stated, referring to the modernization of the films leaving behind the substance.

Brian Cox attributes this to the dominance of Marvel and DC franchises, which prioritize profit over artistic merit. Cox believes the emphasis on comic book films leads to diluted work. He noted, "You're getting the same old... I mean, I've done those kinds of projects." Despite the financial success of these films, Cox cited a decline in cinematic quality, advocating for more originality in the plotlines of the movies.
