Years Before Walking Away From Superman, Zack Snyder Revealed How He Convinced Warner Bros for Henry Cavill as the Kryptonian
Henry Cavill, as Witcher, Superman, and a spy agent, among other roles, received global recognition. The DC Universe fandom is extremely picky when it comes to accepting a face for their favorite DC characters. Surprisingly, when the British actor appeared as the Kryptonian, fans instantly loved him and demanded more of his version of Superman. Unfortunately, when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the DCU, they axed the Snyderverse in order to redirect the Universe.
But years before the DC reboot, the Justice League director, Zack Snyder, once revealed how he convinced Warner Bros to let the English star be Superman.

Snyder has a history of facing opposition and defending his convictions. Before the world saw Cavill as Superman, the visionary director had to convince Warner Bros for their approval. The American director put the Enola Holmes actor in Christopher Reeve’s costume. He clicked pictures and showed them to the studio. On Vero, the Man of Strel director wrote in 2018, “This was the shot I did to show the studio that this was my Superman,” while wishing Cavill a 35th birthday.
The Snyder-Cavill duo was a favorite among fans and they wanted the Man of Steel sequel as well. However, James Gunn axed it and faced a lot of criticism for his alternative method of telling Superman’s story. Nevertheless, when he revealed his plan with the news of Superman: Legacy, fans became hopeful.
But the Henry Cavill fandom still wanted their favorite star back. They started online campaigns to bring back Snyderverse. They even asked Netflix to take over and let the now 40-year-old actor play Superman again. Seeing fans outrageously protesting, Zack Snyder once addressed those fans only to break their hearts with a truth bomb.
What did Zack Snyder say about Netflix taking over Snyderverse?
Zack Snyder cleared the air around Man of Steel 2 and the Snyderverse continuation by debunking all rumors. He revealed he did not own the rights over Snyderverse and it was above his pay grade. Additionally, he also revealed Netflix never showed interest in taking over the Snydervserse, confirming fan fears about the return of Synder’s version of Superman and Justic League.
