Considered one of the most versatile actresses in Hollywood, Emily Blunt has displayed a marvelous range of acting through every genre possible except one. Starting her big screen career with a BAFTA-winning romance flick called My Summer of Love, she graduated to the television drama that won her a Golden Globe, Gideon’s Daughter. From comedies like The Devil Wears Prada to period pieces like Young Victoria, her on-screen presence did wonders. And if we were to speak of thrillers, Blunt has thoroughly covered that domain as well with sci-fi flicks like Edge of Tomorrow, survival horror thriller A Quiet Place, and the widely acclaimed psychological thriller, The Girl on the Train.
Yet, fans of the Brit have always wondered why she has eluded superhero flicks. The closest she came to playing a glorified savior was through her iconic role in Mary Poppins. And now the 40-year-old has finally revealed why she shies away from the spandex.

In the Happy Sad Confused with Josh Horowitz, Blunt was asked why she was the only A-lister besides Leonardo Di Caprio who refused to play a superhero. With a defensive retort, she mentioned how Ryan Gosling was also in the same league to which the host let her know that he once voiced his desire to play the bad-boy vigilante Ghost Rider. To which she responded, “he is such a dork” and expanded with how she wears her choice as a “badge of honor.”
The host persisted by asking about all the roles like Captain Marvel, Pulp Fiction’s Peggy Sue, and the Invisible Woman Susan Storm that she chose to pass on. Only addressing the missed opportunity of playing Black Widow due to Gulliver’s Travels, she simply said, “The best girl got it.”
Finally accepting that she was not a ‘superhero person,’ Emily Blunt cracked up, and so did the host. But her husband clearly does not share her feelings on the topic, considering what she said next.

Horowitz then asked Blunt if she at least watched her husband play Mr. Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a role that Krasinski had to compete with Henry Cavill for. She revealed that she saw “just his bit” implying that she cheekily skipped through the rest of the movie. But she recognized that the superhero universe is “like a religion” and does not want to step on any toes, which makes her nervous about answering questions about it.

On the topic of her husband joining the Marvel universe through Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Blunt revealed that Krasinski had “fun” popping in the movie for the part. Whereas for her, she said in a straightforward tone that “I love what I love” and would not take projects on simply because of their commercial potential.
