‘X-Men ‘97’ Creator Beau DeMayo Showers Words of Admiration for Henry Cavill, Following Amy Adams’ Surprising Admission for Superman

When Henry Cavill left the super-suit hanging for a trusted prodigy to take on his legacy, it felt like DCU’s version of Asgard had fallen. However, after it followed a second departure from the Continent of The Witcher, Cavill’s fans found themselves neck-deep in an ocean. Though the world surrounding Cavill may have paused, the evolution of the characters he embodied continued under the stewardship of new torchbearers. Yet, when reflecting on this from the vantage point of those who experienced the screen with him—like co-star Amy Adams or creator Beau DeMayo—all that lingers is the legacy he left behind.

With a new Superman now doing all the saving, the artists recalled how Cavill remains the savior to remember.

More than the fans who still struggle to make amends with the transition from Henry Cavill’s Superman, two other people who withstand the pain are the X-Men ‘97 creator Beau DeMayo and co-star Amy Adams. DeMayo recently turned to X to re-post a confession Adams made to Variety, wishing luck to every Superman who intends to portray him after Cavill but admitting nearly sheepishly that Cavill's Superman was just “brilliant” who had the superbness in his “spirit.”

DeMayo nodded in agreement while taking fans on a brief stroll to Cavill’s days on The Witcher, recalling “every interaction” he made with the star. Calling him the “Kal-El,” the creator emptied all good words in his dictionary for Cavill but also served as a reminder of how the actor was “kind” before anything else. While the heartbreak was real, after making a case for her Man of Steel, Adams clarified that in theater, no role is ever just one person's gig since everyone is here to put their spin on it.

The world has already met halfway with the new Superman, but Amy Adams is making sure some of that love extends to the fresh Lois Lane played by Rachel Brosnahan in James Gunn’s Superman. In her conversation with Variety, Adams confessed that she absolutely loves Brosnahan and believes she will do great with her role.

Adams confessed she never thought she would suit up for more super escapades after her last flight in Justice League. Instead, she hopes the new Lois Lane will bring a natural blend of humor and strength to the role, making it truly super. Therefore, with her views on how iconic roles take flight in the theater world, she seemed as excited for the new Superman crew as she was thankful for her own Man of Steel, Henry Cavill.
