The legal drama Suits might have ended its run in the USA four years ago. But getting a new home at Netflix, the show witnessed a bewildering resurgence among fans who were pretty much starved of such content. Breaking back-to-back records and keeping on par with some existing blockbusters on Netflix, the Meghan Markle starrer came in high demand like never before. No sooner did the show creator teased a “Suits Cousin”, than the new Streamer bagged the opportunity to feed the frenzy with a spin-off. 

The Suits spin-off now has a new home following the original show’s resurgence on Netflix. And fan are the winners.

Suits spin-off gets new viewers after Meghan Markle starter’s success

After Netflix’s success, Suits’ mother ship continuation now gets its own chance to shine on the NBC Universal streamer. Much like the parent show, Suits featurette did not see much light and got canceled only after a month and a half. Nonetheless, with the explosive resurgence of the Meghan Markle starrer, Pearson now took its shot to gather new binge-watchers. Thus, with the latest addition, Suits now proudly boasts its entire franchise on Peacock.

As reported by Deadline, Pearson first premiered in 2019, following powerhouse lawyer Gina Torres’ Jessica Pearson’s arc. The plot shifts from its original base in New York, the offshoot enters the down-and-dirty world of Chicago politics with Pearson at the center. It also stars Bethany Joy Lenz, Morgan Spector, Chantel Riley, Simon Kassianides, Eli Goree, and Isabel Arraiza. It is a perfect followup for those who finished Suits, which returned to Netflix after a brief reprieve. 

Notably, Netflix brought Suits back in June but only till season 8. Peacock had a upper hand because they get license for all nine seasons. With Pearson, Peacock may have better chances at the ongoing streaming wars. One thing is clear though: Suits fans are the clear winner in this tug-of-war.

With the unprecedented rise of the legal dramedy, executive creator and EP, Aaron Korsh took the helm, giving us valuable insights into the show. In his extensive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Korsh revealed right now, there is nothing in the works. However, there might be something too similar to the Netflix hit that Korsh plans to give it a try. 

He called it a Suits cousin but gave no confirmation of its production and release date. Further revelations, however, stirred the fandom as Korsh opened up on the irritating interference of the Royal family, Meghan Markle’s departure, and much more. Thus, it seems like the flagship TV series will continue to ride on its tide until the sea of fans continues to savor the same. With all its interesting behind-the-scenes incidents, initial failure, eventual skyrocketing success, and the latest addition, Suits evidently continues to bask in the perfect summer-end show glory.
