Jaden Smith

When Jaden Smith hit the 2017 red carpet, it was not his outfit that turned heads. Instead, it was his Met Gala date. Rather than bringing along a romantic partner, a friend, or a family member, he chose to accompany himself with his golden locks, that was not even on his head! Smith entered the arena holding his old golden dreads in hand.
Despite being a rather post-modern accessory, fans could not quite grasp why Smith thought that bringing along dreads would somehow align with the Art and In Between theme of the 2017 Met Gala. The singer wore a sleek Louis Vuitton suit and heeled boots, accessorized with thick gold chains. Nevertheless, his all-black ensemble failed to make a statement one way or the other.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry has made it a tradition to make a statement with her style every year. Among her many memorable looks, one outfit that is sure to be remembered in Met Gala history is her chandelier-inspired Moschino ensemble from 2019, or as some might say, her candle stand look. But that was just the beginning.
Perry did not stop at the chandelier ensemble. On that very same evening, she also slipped into her burger costume, complete with burger shoes, and a lettuce wrap dress underneath.
Maya Hawke
Perhaps the least "disgusting" outfit on the list, Maya Hawke's 2023 toilet paper-esque Met Gala outfit made the cut too. The Stranger Things actress not only got her acting skills from her famous parents, Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, but also her mom's '90s fashion sense. Despite being in the public eye for a while, trying out various styles to define her own, her look drew lots of teasing, memes, and comparisons to toilet paper all over the internet.
She sported a minidress decorated with stunning flowers, delicate gazar bows, and an ivory cape. However, the custom Prada wedding-inspired dress and cape, though exquisitely beautiful, failed to enhance the overall outfit because of the kitten heels and undone hair.
Jared Leto
Jared Leto made jaws drop at the 2019 Met Gala when he arrived with a lifelike replica of his own head, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. He wore an eye-popping red ensemble from head to toe, and for his accessory, he carried his doppelgänger head. It was Alessandro Michele's creation for Gucci.
The ensemble became the most meme-worthy look of the year and social media started flooding with hilarious posts about Jared Leto.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Priyanka Chopra Jonas fully embraced the camp theme of 2019 and took it to the next level. She flaunted a Dior Haute Couture gown adorned with a matching crown, along with an elaborate cage detailing on the corset, vibrant feathers, and a cape. However, it was her bold and exaggerated makeup that attracted intense trolling for the Citadel actress.
Priyanka Chopra revealed that she took inspiration from Johnny Depp's character, Mad Hatter, in Alice in Wonderland, and fans could not agree more.
Rihanna
For her 2015 Met Gala look, Rihanna opted for Chinese courtier Guo Pei in an intricate yellow long gown. While Miss Fenty always serves fashion, her look for that year was nothing less than a disaster, that was subjected to numerous memes, the most famous one being the pizza on top of the trail. Since the event, Rihanna has been outspoken in defense of her ensemble.
In an interview with Access Hollywood in 2020, she shared how she was terrified that people would laugh at her as she felt she was "doing too much." She further described feeling like a "clown" and how she had to book a limousine to accommodate the gigantic attire. It seems it was not just the internet, but her too who knew how much a blunder her attire was.
Ezra Miller

Ezra Miller does not do things by halves. The actor took everyone aback in 2019 when he appeared with seven eyes on his face. Dressed in a custom Burberry creation by Riccardo Tisci, Miller transformed himself into a walking optical illusion. Initially, he hid his face with a mask. However, when he finally revealed his face for the evening, the red carpet was left speechless.
With a bold swipe of bright red lipstick and multiple sets of eyes, all converging at the top of his head, where a pair of tiny eyebrows peeked out from beneath a curled piece of hair, Miller definitely pulled one of the most shocking and disgusting looks of Met Gala’s history.
