With Prince Harry’s U.S. Residency in Jeopardy, a Former Royal Correspondent Reveals Where the Sussexes Might Head Next
Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, was the grenade that blew apart the last remaining ties between the Sussexes and the royal family. The bombshell revelations that the Duke made in the book are still the talk of the royal circles, and their impact just will not die down. However, it was not just the royal family who were harmed by the content of Spare, Prince Harry’s decision to lay all his cards on the table now seems to be biting him in the back, too.
Prince Harry's life in the States is on shaky ground due to some revelations in Spare. Now, if their U.S. residency really goes up in smoke, there is one country the Sussexes could flee to.

In Spare, Prince Harry opened up about his substance usage in the past. This could spell some legal trouble for the Duke as a conservative think tank in Washington, The Heritage Foundation, is now pushing the US government to open Prince Harry's immigration files. Amid such tension, former BBC royal correspondent told OK! Magazine that “Canada would look kindly on” the Californian royals if the worst came to the worst.
Bond, however, believes that the chances of the US throwing out the 39-year-old are really slim. “Lawyers would find some way around it,” believed the royal correspondent. Especially as long as Joe Biden’s government remains in power, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should not worry about being expelled from the country, according to Bond. Nonetheless, there is little to no chance of the Sussexes moving back to the UK, and there are reasons for it.
Since Megxit, there have been enough signs to prove that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are not returning to royal territory.

Since stepping down from their royal roles, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made their home in California. They not only have a settled family in the States but also their own company, Archewell, and influence in Hollywood. This is one major reason why Andrew Morton, who wrote a biography of Princess Diana, believes the Sussexes will not return to Britain. Even Meghan Markle herself hinted at this in 2022.
In an interview with The Cut, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that she had “packed up” all her belongings from the Windsor home. The most recent hint came as Meghan Markle refused to attend the Invictus UK event, although there have been some additional factors at play apart from her not feeling welcomed by the British. While the UK may not be the ideal choice for the Sussexes to set camp, the friendly country Canada has the potential to become their next haven.
