The United Kingdom might be celebrating its newly minted King, but some parts of the island are not really happy with the same. Over the years, the Monarchy had been facing a consistent setback in failing to be relevant in the fast-changing world. The age-old Institution has miserably failed to walk shoulder to shoulder with the new age generation and official reports substantiate the same. Nations like Scotland have a reported 45% dip in alliance with the British Sovereigns. However, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is at the rescue. 

And in places where the support for King Charles stumbles, it has put a firm foot with their now most formidable foe, the Duchess of Sussex, There seemed to be a simmering ray of hope for King Charles as Meghan Markle came as a gush of fresh air into the grand-old Palace.

How has Scotland stood tall with Meghan Markle?

Markle brought to the Monarchy what it needed the most, relevance to the world. Nonetheless, nothing of that sort could sustain longer. The Duke and the Duchess bid farewell to their royal base, claiming reasons that shook the world. All of them came to light as Prince Harry and Markle sat for a historic yet devastating interview with Oprah Winfrey that resulted in massive truth bombs against the British royal family.  

The shuddering claims, although sent shockwaves around the world, established Markle as admirable in the eyes of many. And Scotland was remarkably one of them. The National Museum North of the border is all praise for the Duchess. It became evident as they put on the historic Meghan Markle outfit she wore to the revolutionary interview. 

What does the dress stand for?

As the iconic dress stood out in the Little Black Dress exhibition of Scotland, the placard elaborated on the essence it carried. As is often the case with royals, they tend to represent things of great importance through their outfits. Markle evidently carried on the legacy as she wore the Lotus flower design black colored dress. 

The description elaborates that Markle chose the specific design as Lotus is “associated with rebirth, self-regeneration, and resilience.” All of which seemingly stood for what Meghan Markle has been actively advocating for since time immemorial. To commemorate the viral television moment, Ibrahim Kamara and Gareth Wrighton chose it as the Dress of the year 2021. It speaks volume at the face of oppression “becoming imprinted in the pop culture psyche”.
