The Bad Boys franchise has surely carved its own thrilling path in the world of action and witty banter. Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett became a favorite duo among fans back in 1995 in Michael Bay’s first movie. And with Bad Boys 4 coming up, the excitement among the fans is high for all the right reasons.

The excitement of the fans might hit rock bottom due to recent developments in the franchise. A seasoned actor, known for their impeccable chemistry in the movie with Martin Lawrence, has made a surprising decision to bid adieu to the franchise. 

An unexpected departure

It is not Will Smith or Martin Lawrence who are exciting the franchise. It is Detective Burnett’s wife Theresa, played by Theresa Randle is leaving the franchise. With Randle’s departure, another Smith replaces Theresa’s character. Tasha Smith, from Empire, is the new Theresa, the loving and beloved wife of Detective Burnett, as reported by Variety. While this is an enormous blow for the fans because of their sentiments attached to Randle, no one can undermine what Smith has to bring to the table. 

While both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence confirmed their presence in the upcoming movie, the plot and insides of the movie are still under wraps. The movie will also star Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, and Eric Dane. Ever since the slapping incident at the 2022 Oscars, Will Smith has appeared only in one movie ‘Emancipation’ and fans are excited to see him coming back as Detective Mike.

Bad Boys was Will Smith’s first successful movie. The franchise was a commercial success and earned hundreds of millions. Ever since the Oscar fiasco, this will be Smith’s second movie. Back in the time, Smith earned $2 million for the role. As reported by Variety, Will Smith will b getting a paycheck of $25 million for the fourth installment of the movie. Despite a long break since the slap incident, Will Smith still remains the highest-paid movie star in Hollywood. 

With Netflix’s Fast and Loose also back in production, there is a high chance that Smith will come clean and his work will speak for itself.
